Single mode: Light travels along a path, used for long distance transmission up to 5KM
Multi mode: Light travels along multiple paths,used for short distance.

Differences in light sources
Light sources usually include laser light sources and LED light sources. Single-mode optical fiber uses laser light sources, while multi-mode optical fiber uses LED light sources.
The choice between single-mode fiber and multi-mode fiber should be based on the actual transmission distance and cost.
If the transmission distance is 300-400 meters, multi-mode fiber can be used. If the transmission distance reaches several thousand meters, single-mode fiber is the best choice.
